VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A Navy chief has been arrested and charged with child sex abuse, the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) said.
Virginia Beach police arrested and charged 38-year-old Karl Adebahr with attempted carnal knowledge of a minor attempted production of child pornography, and two counts of use of communications systems to facilitate offenses involving children.
According to officials, police suspected Adebahr of initiating conversations with minors on social media platforms. The social media pages he used had usernames similar to "Jack38."
Adebahr texted an undercover officer posing as a 14-year-old. He asked the undercover officer who he believed was an underage child to take explicit pictures and later drove to an agreed location in Virginia Beach to meet up for sex. According to a Navy Chief, Adehbahr bought a contraceptive from a naval base store. He later confessed to his actions and intentions in an interview with police.
VBPD is still investigating this incident.
