VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — An investigation is underway following a fire inside the pool room at the Fairfield Inn & Suites in the Oceanfront area Tuesday afternoon, officials said.
The Virginia Beach Fire Department (VBFD) was called to the hotel on Atlantic Avenue just after 3:40 p.m. When firefighters arrived, officials said heavy black smoke was coming from the pool area.
The blaze was contained to the pool overhead and put out shortly after 4 p.m., according to VBFD.
No one was reported injured.
Officials said hotel management is working to restore impacted utilities.
There's no word on what caused the fire.
