Deadly weekend crash under investigation in Virginia Beach

Police said emergency responders were called to the 2500 block of Salem Road shortly after 3 p.m. on Saturday.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A man died following a car accident Saturday afternoon in Virginia Beach, police said.

Police said emergency responders were called to the 2500 block of Salem Road shortly after 3 p.m. When they arrived, they found a single-vehicle crash and that the driver, 61-year-old Luther Curling, was dead.

Speed may have been a factor in the accident, according to a preliminary investigation.

The Virginia Beach Police Department Traffic Safety Unit is investigating the crash.
