VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A former Virginia Beach City Public Schools worker was sentenced to 20 years in prison on Tuesday.
David Crouse Jr. was convicted of having and sharing child pornography. According to court documents, Virginia Beach police linked about 10,000 child porn images to Crouse.
He worked as an IT specialist for Arrowhead Elementary School for 13 years.
In 2019, detectives with the Virginia Beach Police Department started an investigation that lasted about three years, where they later found thousands of files of child porn on Crouse's laptop.
When confronted by police, Crouse admitted the files came from his laptop and at the time of his questioning, prosecutors said he was alone in a closed room with a 7-year-old child.
The 20-year prison sentence was the mandatory minimum for Crouse's guilty plea.
