VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A fire damaged an apartment building near the Hilltop area of Virginia Beach Thursday afternoon.
The fire happened at the Eastwind Apartments, which is located near Laskin Road and Virginia Beach Boulevard. The Virginia Beach Fire Department said it responded around 3 p.m.
Firefighters got to the building within a few minutes, confirming that smoke and flames were coming from a wooden fence and had quickly spread to the building itself. According to the Virginia Beach Fire Department, crews put the fire out within 10 minutes of getting there.
Three people got out of the apartment and management is working to help them with relocation. No one was hurt.
Officials said the fire is believed to have started from a moped that was recently ridden and parked against the wooden fence.
