Virginia State Police (VSP) say the driver crashed into the guardrail near Exit 15 before landing into a nearby body of water.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Divers worked to remove a vehicle that officials say crashed into a body of water off Interstate 264 in Virginia Beach Saturday morning, seriously injuring the driver.

The driver was heading east on the interstate at around 5:48 a.m. when Virginia State Police (VSP) say they crashed into the guardrail near Exit 15, landing into a nearby body of water.

The driver was taken to the Virginia Beach General Hospital but is expected to survive. VSP said no one else was inside the vehicle.

Crews from the Virginia Beach Fire Department and Swift Water Rescue were called to the scene to help pull the vehicle out of the water.
