Deadly hit-and-run crash investigated in Virginia Beach

The suspects didn't get very far. Virginia Beach PD said they found two occupants of the vehicle near the accident scene.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- Police say one person is dead following an overnight hit-and-run crash in Virginia Beach.

The crash happened at the intersection of North Great Neck Road and River Road, and involved a Lexus SUV and a white Hyundai Sonata.

Officers say the Lexus was making a right turn onto North Great Neck it was hit by the Hyundai.

The driver of the Lexus died at the scene.

Police believe the driver of the Hyundai was intoxicated and was speeding at the time of the crash. Both occupants of the Hyundai got out and fled on foot, but were apprehended shortly after the crash.

Charges against the driver of the Hyundai are pending. The case remains under investigation by the Virginia Beach Police Fatal Accident Crash Team.
