VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A man has died after a fatal crash involving a bike and a vehicle at a Virginia Beach intersection on Oct. 13, according to a press release from the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD).
At 9:54 p.m. on Oct. 13, officers responded to a crash at the intersection of 30th Street and Arctic Avenue.
According to police, a preliminary investigation determined that a cyclist, 37-year-old Matthew Hurley was traveling west on 30th Street, before he entered the intersection against a red traffic light and collided with a vehicle traveling north on Arctic Ave.
Police said they found Hurley after the crash with life-threatening injuries and transported him to a local hospital. Three days after the accident, Hurley died as a result of the injuries he sustained in the collision.
The driver of the vehicle remained on-scene and cooperated with emergency personnel. VBPD's Traffic Safety Unit is continuing to investigate the incident. No charges have been filed.
