VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Law enforcement across Hampton Roads will soon have a new and improved place to train.
The Creeds Law Enforcement Training Facility opened in Pungo in 2009, and it's about to get a major facelift.
Thanks to millions in grants and federal funding, crews on Monday broke ground on renovations.
The department plans to replace the driving track, renovate buildings in the simulated city, and build a new six-story rappel tower.
It’s not just the Virginia Beach Police Department that trains at the facility. They also welcome military and other police departments in the seven cities.
The department hopes the project will be finished by the summer of 2026.
