VIRGINIA BEACH, Va (WVEC) — Newly filed documents reveal the moments before an Ocean Lakes High schooler was shot dead in front of a Red Mill home.
A search warrant affidavit details how Christopher Ross, 17, was at a home in the 2700 block of Elson Green Avenue to buy marijuana from Jacob Alexander Meadows, 19, and another dealer.
That dealer confessed to police that he, Meadows and Ross, were completing a transaction in a bedroom. At some point, Ross “grabbed the bag of marijuana and ran from the bedroom and down the stairs of the home,” documents state.
The paperwork said Ross tried to exit the front door, but it was locked. Meadows and the other dealer then chased after the teenager. Meadows then shot Ross as he was leaving through the front door, documents said.
The medical examiner's office told 13News Now Ross died from multiple gunshot wounds. A “large” amount of marijuana was found next to his body when police arrived on the scene, according to the affidavit.
Meadows was tracked down and arrested a day after the murder when police learned he lived in “some type of camper” in the Pungo area of Virginia Beach, documents said. The other dealer was taken into custody when he returned to the scene as police were still investigating.
The paperwork said that at one point, five people were taken into custody after witnesses said a car left the scene.
Police have only said three unnamed juveniles have been arrested in connection to the murder. Two were charged with robbery, and conspiracy to violate the drug act. Another was charged with distribution of marijuana.
13News Now reached out to Ross’ family for comment, but have not heard back.
