VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — The City of Virginia Beach is getting the public's opinion on how to memorialize the victims of the municipal center shooting.
The temporary memorial at the center is being collected by members of the Virginia Beach History Museums to preserve the items. They are also being documented and made available to the victims’ families or stored for potential future uses.
The city is surveying to get ideas for a permanent memorial to honor the lives lost on May 31 in Building 2 of the municipal center.
The survey asks what the memorial should capture or convey, what's important for the memorial to have, and if there should be a permanent place for the temporary memorial.
There are also questions about the future of Building 2.
Anyone is welcome to take the survey here. The deadline is July 26.
