VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Virginia Beach's Cherry Blossom Festival is going strong after weekend events were canceled due to the rainy weather.
An expected soggy weekend for Hampton Roads is canceling the first two days of Virginia Beach's Cherry Blossom Festival. However, the festival resumed on Monday and will continue every day through March 30.
Last week, Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation said the cherry blossoms are approaching full bloom.
March's relatively warm weather had "worked its magic and we're seeing peak blooms on the cherry blossoms at the [Miyazaki] Japanese Garden," the post read.
Most of the cherry blossoms along the park's promenade are currently in "stage 5." This is when the buds fully open but the flowers remain partially closed.
When the blossoms reach peak — the sixth and final stage — the flowers have full, white blooms.
