VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A fire in the Kempsville area of Virginia Beach caused damage to a house Friday afternoon, officials said.
The fire happened in the 5400 block of Gale Drive, which is near Providence Road and Kempsville Road. The Virginia Beach Fire Department (VBFD) said it responded around 3:30 p.m. and got there a few minutes later.
After getting there, firefighters saw that a shed and fence were fully engulfed with heavy smoke and flames. The fire quickly spread to the nearby house, causing severe damage to its outside and heavy smoke damage inside, according to VBFD.
No one was hurt, but two adults, a dog and a cat were displaced by the fire. The Red Cross has been contacted to help them with relocation.
The origin and cause of the fire are being investigated.
