VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Police have arrested and charged the man they suspect robbed a Truist Bank in Virginia Beach Wednesday morning.
Around 9:44 a.m., the Virginia Beach Emergency Communications and Citizen Services (ECCS) received a report of a robbery in progress at the Truist Bank at 4592 Virginia Beach Boulevard.
When officers responded to the scene, the suspect had already fled.
Police said their investigation revealed that the suspect entered the bank, demanded money from the tellers and implied that he was armed before absconding with an undisclosed amount of money.
According to VBPD, their Violent Crimes Unit was able to identify 23-year-old Jakim Girard of Virginia Beach as a suspect in the robbery.
Girard was arrested later that same day and charged with two counts of Robbery, one count of Attempted Robbery, and three counts of Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony.
