VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Back Bay Brewing Farmhouse is celebrating Women's History Month by hosting its second annual Empowered Festival on Saturday.

The event will have a women-owned vendor market that day, women-owned food trucks, and two women's rock bands.

The festival will be held at Back Bay Farmhouse. It starts at 11 a.m., music starts at 3 p.m. Back Bay Brew House has a woman as their head brewer, Cohen Norris. She joined the Pink Boots Society.

She started this event last year to highlight the annual Nationwide Collaborative Brew Day for the Pink Boots Society which is traditionally released on March 8 for International Women's Day.

The Pink Boots Society is a non-profit organization that supports women and non-binary people working in fermented beverages and allied industries.

In 2023, Back Bay Brew House brewed this beer with the other women who worked there. All the women in management are on the can. Back Bay Brew House has five women on its management team.

But for the 2024 brew, they invited other women from all across the beverage industry to come to brew the beer with them and spend the day sharing stories and achievements that they have made.

Women who previously attended the brew day work for their local distributor, restaurant owners, general managers of restaurants, and friends who just wanted to come support.
