College students' art on display in Black History Month exhibition in Virginia Beach through February

Students from NSU, ODU, Virginia Wesleyan University and Tidewater Community College submitted original artworks for the month-long event.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — College students across Hampton Roads came together for an annual Black History Month art exhibition, and you can come to see the student-comprised gallery.

The 3rd Annual Black History Month Emerging Artist Exhibition Showcase at Westminster Canterbury features original artworks honoring the month-long holiday. Students from Norfolk State University, Old Dominion University, Virginia Wesleyan University and Tidewater Community College submitted the art.

For the whole month of February, people can come and take a look at the gallery, including the first-place prize-winning piece by Asha Hilliard, a senior at Norfolk State University.

Hilliard won a scholarship for getting first place. She and the other contestants are also up for another scholarship for the People's Choice Award, so visitors can have a hand in deciding which artist will receive a scholarship.

The exhibition will be shown at Westminister Canterbury on 3100 Shore Drive for Black History Month. You can check in at the front desk. You can find their contact information for any questions online or call 800-753-2918.
