A haunted pirate ship in Virginia Beach raises money for a good cause

The Halloween display, started by Jason Hayes, raises money for CHKD.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Halloween is here, and one spooky display in Virginia Beach is raising money for a good cause.

Jason Hayes first started his haunted pirate walkthrough ten years ago, but this year, he decided to make it a fundraiser for Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters (CHKD). The pirate ship is called The Amelia, named for Jason's daughter, who received care from CHKD for a congenital heart defect.

"We have a jungle, a wharf, an underwater scene, the pirate ship and a cave that everybody walks through," Hayes said.

Residents can visit the haunted pirate walkthrough at 1908 Morgan Mill Way. Parking is available on Townfield Lane.
