VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — The hospitalized man from a drowning incident involving three young men at the Oceanfront earlier this month has now died, the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) confirms.

On Sept. 21, at 8:24 p.m., officers responded to a report of a drowning at the Boardwalk at 16th Street.

They learned that three people, Santos Olcot Ajbal, 24, Sergio Olcot Ajbal, 22, and Sergio Xinco, 22, of Chesapeake had been swept out to sea while swimming.

When first responders arrived, they found one individual, Santos, had washed ashore. They immediately began life-saving measures before eventually transporting him to a nearby hospital. He eventually died as a result of his injuries.

Two days later at 7:29 p.m., VBPD officers were dispatched to the Boardwalk and 17th Street and recovered a body, which they later identified to be Sergio Olcot Ajbal.

The next day at 4:24 a.m., the body of Xinico was recovered from the water near the Boardwalk and 30th Street.

According to authorities, no foul play is suspected in this incident.
