Two people are in the hospital after a two-story home ignited in Virginia Beach Saturday morning, officials confirmed to 13News Now.

Virginia Beach Fire Department (VBFD) responded to a blaze on West Plantation Road, just off Great Neck Road, at around 10:30 a.m. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the residence.

A resident who suffered burns and a neighbor who had smoke inhalation was taken to a hospital, officials said. There's no word on how serious their injuries are. No firefighters were reported hurt in the blaze.

The blaze has left the two residents, who are both adults, displaced.

The fire was brought under control and put out at around 12:12 p.m., according to VBFD. Photos of the scene show the house scorched and covered in black soot.
