Suffolk police arrest December shooting suspect

Suffolk police took a suspect into custody on a number of charges related to a shooting that took place last month.

SUFFOLK, Va. (WVEC) — Suffolk police have arrested a suspect for a shooting that took place back in December.

Travis Cobrial Chalk, 40, is was charged with aggravated malicious wounding, shoot cut or wound, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a felon, and discharge of a firearm in public.

Chalk was taken into custody Friday morning in Hampton.

The shooting happened on Sunday, December 9 in the 200 block of Spruce Street at 1:18 a.m.

When officers arrived they found an adult man suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg. The victim received emergency medical treatment and assessment from Suffolk Fire and Rescue before being taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

There is no further information available at this time.
