SUFFOLK, Va. — Suffolk's fire marshal is investigating a vehicle fire early Friday morning as an arson.
Just before 4 a.m., crews with the City of Suffolk Department of Fire & Rescue were called to a report of a brush fire in the 4700 block of Nansemond Parkway.
When firefighters arrived, they found a vehicle that was engulfed in flames in a field about a fourth-mile off the road, according to Master Firefigher Katie Russell.
Crews were able to extinguish the fire without anyone being injured.
Russell said the on-duty fire marshal was called out and declared the fire to have been an arson.
No suspects have been named. The fire remains under investigation.
