Three injured in Suffolk fire

Three people were injured in a Northbrooke Avenue fire Saturday evening.

SUFFOLK, Va. — Three people suffered injuries in a fire in the 300 block of Northbrooke Avenue in Suffolk on Saturday evening.

Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to the call at 6:14 p.m. The first units arrived at 6:19 p.m. and found heavy fire showing from the second floor of a two-story residential structure, according to a press release from Suffolk Fire & Rescue.

Crews aggressively entered the structure with two hand lines and were able to quickly locate and extinguish the fire. Additional crews performed search and rescue efforts, provided exposure lines, and ventilated the structure.

All occupants were out of the home prior to the arrival of fire units. The three occupants were transported to the hospital with non-life threating injuries. The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the blaze.

The American Red Cross was requested and will be assisting the three displaced occupants.

Responding units included Car 5, Car 10, Battalion 1, Engine 1, Engine 2, Engine 4, Ladder 6, Rescue 1, Medic 1, Fire Marshal 1, Fire Marshal 4, Fire Marshal 6, EMS 1, Safety 1, Rehab 6, and Suffolk Police.
