Suffolk shooting incident with possible ties to road rage

A man walked into a local hospital with a non life-threatening gunshot wound on Saturday, possibly the result of a road rage incident in Suffolk.

SUFFOLK, Va. — Around 1:30pm The Suffolk 911 Center received a call to respond to the 5600 block of Shoulders Hill Road after a report of shots fired.

As Suffolk police officers were on their way to investigate the shots fired call, they received another call from Sentara BelleHarbor Hospital about the man who had walked in with a non life-threatening gunshot wound.

The man has yet to be identified but we know he is 29 and was able to transport himself to the  hospital.

An initial investigation brought to light a traffic incident that may have been the motive for the shooting.

The traffic incident took place in the 3900 block of Bridge Road where a car was reported to be “driving erratically and recklessly” Suffolk police said.

Officers located three shell casings from the scene and the vehicle involved is described as a white SUV.

While the Suffolk Police Department continues to investigate, anyone with additional details is encouraged to call 1-888-562-5887.
