SUFFOLK, Va. — Drivers in Suffolk will have a few more weeks to prepare for railroad crossing closures in the city.
A city spokesperson said closures were originally set to start at 8 a.m. Wednesday, but Norfolk Southern postponed the track maintenance until February.
The maintenance will close multiple railroad crossings:
- Liberty Street between East Washington and Bank Streets
- East Washington Street near Hall Avenue
- Saratoga Street near Hall Avenue
Suffolk resident Kelvin Chapman said he noticed some tracks have caused some issues when driving over them.
“They got, like, a concrete thing sitting in the middle of the street on the right-hand side. I’ve seen some people tear the bottom of their cars up,” he said.
The city spokesperson said Suffolk officials will alert residents as soon as learn of the new closure dates. When they do happen, the closures are expected to last a couple of days.
