SUFFOLK, Va. — Suffolk is opening a new park with a 50 Fest Celebration.
Suffolk Parks & Recreation announced 50 Fest to celebrate the city's 50th anniversary and the grand opening of Downtown Festival Park. The celebration and park opening will be at 215 W. Washington St. on July 13 at 5 p.m.
The Downtown Festival Park will have food trucks, festivities and live music by the local 70's cover band, Inside Out.
Every attendee who dresses in 70's attire has a chance to win prizes in the costume contest.
After the contest, there will be a screening of Superman at 8:30 p.m. on a 40-foot movie screen.
Attendees are advised to bring their own chairs and blankets for seating. Parking is available in public lots in downtown.
