Second suspect in Suffolk homicide arrested

SUFFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- A second suspect has been arrested for the murder of 23-year-old Aaron L. Hunter, who died at Wilson Pines Apartments on March 11, 2016.

Markelyn Lamontre Jones, 17, of the 300 block of N. Division Street, was arrested on March 12 and faces several charges including first degree murder.

Jones will be tried as an adult and is currently being held at Western Tidewater Regional Jail.

Police previously arrested and charged Mandocous J. Rivers, 19, with first degree murder. He's being held at Western Tidewater Regional Jail with no bond.

Hunter was killed last Friday night. Emergency dispatchers received a call at 9:20 p.m. about gunfire in the 2500 block of East Washington Street. Officers got to Wilson Pines Apartments where they found Hunter shot and another 23-year-old who was hurt.

Medics treated and released the other 23-year-old.
