Residents evacuated after live ammunition round discovered in Magnolia Lakes neighborhood in Suffolk

No one was injured in the incident, and Virginia State Police took possession of the item.

SUFFOLK, Va. — Suffolk Fire & Rescue and Suffolk Police were called to the 1100 block of Nansemond Parkway after a live ammunition round was discovered in the Magnolia Lakes neighborhood.

Once they arrived, they confirmed the unexploded ammunition round was live, and ordered nearby residences to evacuate as a precaution. The Suffolk Fire Marshal's Office and the Virginia State Police Bomb Squad also arrived to investigate. 

The state police's bomb squad took possession of the item for further evaluation, and the all-clear was given at 4:24 p.m. There were no injuries in the incident. 

Suffolk Police didn't say how the round was discovered or who it was discovered by, nor did they disclose where it could've come from.
