Person accused of setting house fire that left man critically hurt

The fire marshal's office arrested a person who is accused of setting a fire Sunday that left a man critically hurt.

SUFFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- The fire marshal's office arrested a person who is accused of setting a fire Sunday that left a man critically hurt.

Tyson Maurice Watkins, 25, is charged with Arson of an Occupied Building.

Emergency dispatchers received a call about the house fire in the 1300 block of E. Washington St. shortly before 11:20 p.m. Sunday.

The man rescued from the roof of the two-story house had injuries that crews considered life-threatening. A medical team flew him to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

A family member told 13News Now that two other people for whom crews origianlly could not account were not home at the time.

Watkins live in the house prior to the fire that he is accused of setting. Investigators may file additional charges against him. He is in Western Tidewater Regional Jail with no bond set.
