SUFFOLK, Va. — 3 people are displaced after a partial building collapse in Suffolk Sunday evening, officials say.
Suffolk Fire & Rescue officials say they received a report of a building collapse in the 300 block of E. Washington Street off of Carolina Road around 10:05 p.m.
Crews arrived just a few minutes later and found that the three-story middle of the row building had collapsed in the interior along with debris on the front sidewalk in the rear.
The building wasn't occupied. Due to the damage, the adjacent apartments were deemed unsafe and the residents were displaced.
The City of Suffolk is working with the owner of the building to have it demolished.
There were no injuries reported. Three people are displaced and the American Red Cross is assisting them.
