SUFFOLK, Va. — On Thursday just before 2:30 p.m., Suffolk Fire & Rescue and Suffolk Police responded to the 100 block of Independence Court for a residential fire.
Crews entered the home and found a fire on the inside with smoke throughout. The fire was extinguished quickly, Suffolk Fire & Rescue said, and crews made sure no one else was in the home. The process took a little over ten minutes, and there was minimal damage to the home.
A suspect has been arrested, an adult man, on attempted arson "and other charges," Suffolk Fire & Rescue said. The Suffolk Fire Marshal's Office will lead the investigation. The suspect's name was not yet released and the cause of the fire is still being investigated.
