Man wanted for murder in Suffolk cemetery captured in Atlanta

Police say Karlton Boone fatally shot 42-year-old Wayne Anthony Watford in the torso. His body was found at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in 800 block of Dill Rd.

Karlton L. Boone Jr., 18, is wanted on multiple charges including murder, shooting during commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a violent felon.

NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- U.S. Marshals tracked down and arrested a suspect wanted for murdering a 42-year-old man in a Suffolk cemetery on March 1, 2016.

Karlton Lamond Boone Jr., an 18-year-old Suffolk native better known as “Lil Jodi,” was captured in Atlanta.

Warrants were issued on March 4, 2016 charging Boone with first degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, shoot/stab/cut or wound, and possession of firearm by a convicted violent felon.

Through an intense month-long investigation, U.S. Marshals in Norfolk were able to figure out where Boone had fled. Around 10:30 a.m. Thursday, the U.S. Marshals-led Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, acting on information developed by the U.S. Marshals in Norfolk, took Boone into custody without incident at an apartment located at 765 McDaniel Street in Atlanta.

Boone will be held at the Fulton County Jail awaiting return to Virginia.
