SUFFOLK, Va. — An early morning fire Sunday left "heavy" damage to part of a house in Suffolk, causing two residents to be displaced.
The fire broke out on Edgewood Avenue just off North Main Street at around 3:13 a.m. When Suffolk Fire & Rescue arrived, officials said flames were coming from a bedroom window.
The blaze was brought under control at around 3:43 a.m. Before it was doused, however, Suffolk Fire & Rescue says a bedroom suffered "heavy fire damage" while the rest of the home had "extensive smoke damage."
The American Red Cross is helping the two residents displaced. No one was reported hurt.
The Fire Marshal's Office is working to determine what started the fire.
