SUFFOLK, Va. — A factory in downtown Suffolk caught fire Tuesday evening, officials say.
Suffolk Fire & Rescue says emergency communications were contacted regarding the incident in the 300 block of Factory Street around 9:25 p.m., fire crews arrived just five minutes later to find a multi-story factory had caught fire.
Crews worked between the second and third floors to find and suppress a fire that was in the processing area on a conveyor belt and in the duct system.
The fire also spread to the second-story roof. The fire was contained to the duct and roof area.
There were no injuries to factory workers or firefighters.
The fire was placed under control just before 10:10 p.m.
