SUFFOLK, Va. — A driver was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon after leading officers on a vehicle chase in Suffolk into Southampton County, police said.
Before the chase began, around 4:10 p.m., Suffolk police dispatchers got a call from a person reporting a reckless driver who nearly collided with their vehicle on Highway 58 westbound. The person was entering Suffolk from Chesapeake at the time.
The Suffolk Police Department said officers got behind the suspect driver on Highway 58 near Highway 460 and saw them driving recklessly.
Officers tried to pull the suspect driver over, but they didn't stop and drove away, leading to a pursuit into Southampton County.
According to the police department, the suspect vehicle was stopped near the Pretlow Street exit in Franklin with help from Virginia State Police (VSP). No one was hurt.
Police didn't identify the suspect nor the charges they face. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
