Bomb threat at Col. Fred Cherry Middle School in Suffolk under investigation

According to city officials, the school has been evacuated as a precautionary measure as law enforcement sweeps the building.

SUFFOLK, Va. — Col. Fred Cherry Middle School in Suffolk was evacuated Monday morning after a reported bomb threat, city officials said.

At around 12:30 p.m., the Suffolk Fire Marshal's office confirmed there were no threats present at the school.

Suffolk Fire & Rescue, the Suffolk Fire Marshal's Office and the Suffolk Police Department responded around 11:50 a.m. after being notified by school administrators.

According to city officials, the school was evacuated as a precautionary measure and law enforcement is sweeping the building. No one has been injured.
