SUFFOLK, Va. — Six people were displaced in a house fire in Suffolk that happened late Tuesday night, the city's fire department said.
It happened in the 2000 block of Woodshire Way, which is right off Nansemond Parkway and close to Wilroy Road. When firefighters got there, heavy fire and smoke were coming from inside the garage of the house.
The people who lived there got out before the Suffolk Department of Fire & Rescue got there. The fire was marked under control shortly before midnight.
No one was hurt, but five adults and a child will need to stay somewhere else. The Red Cross is helping them out.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
