SUFFOLK, Va. — One person has been injured in an apartment fire Friday afternoon, Suffolk Fire & Rescue said.
Crews responded to a commercial structure fire in the 1000 block of South Saratoga Street around 1:23 p.m. on Friday. When firefighters arrived, they found light smoke coming from a two-story apartment building.
Fire officials determined there was a kitchen fire in an apartment onn the first floor, but it was extinguished before they arrived.
Officials said a primary search determined that all occupants were able to exit the building on their own. However, one resident was transported to the hospital with smoke inhalation injuries.
