Vacant Portsmouth home engulfed in flames

Vacant two-story house up in flames in the 4100 block of Kings Street in Portsmouth, VA.

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — A two-story house went up in flames Sunday evening in Portsmouth.

According to the city's Emergency Communications, they were notified of a residential structure fire in the 4100 Block of King Street around 11:58 p.m.

When fire crews initially arrived on the scene, they found both the first and second floors engulfed in flames.

About an hour later, at 1:00 a.m., firefighters were able to get the blaze under control.

No firefighters were reported injured during this incident, no one was displaced since the home was vacant.

At approximately 6:31 a.m., a spokesperson with Portsmouth Fire, Rescue, & Emergency Service said the scene remains active and the cause of the fire is being investigated.
