PORTSMOUTH, Va. — Portsmouth police arrested two men in connection to a shooting on June 1 that killed one and injured three others.
Officers said the shooting took place in the 1100 block of Mt. Vernon Avenue. Emergency Communications said they received the 911 call around 1 a.m.
The person killed was later identified as 28-year-old Robert E. Artis, Jr. The other three victims were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, but their current condition is unknown.
After investigating, police obtained warrants for two suspects, 21-year-old Tyquan R. Anderson and 23-year-old Eric A. Hoskins from Virginia Beach.
Hoskins was arrested in Virginia Beach on June 11 by U.S. Marshals with help from the Virginia Beach Police Department Fugitive and SWAT teams. He is facing charges of aggravated malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Later in the evening on June 11, Anderson was tracked down in the 2700 block of Conrad Avenue in Chesapeake, and he was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals and the Chesapeake Police Department Criminal Apprehension Unit. He is facing charges of aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and first-degree murder.
Both Hoskins and Anderson were turned over to the Portsmouth Sheriff’s Office.
