PORTSMOUTH, Va. — Three people are facing charges for a shooting that left a man dead last month in Portsmouth, police said.
Brian Antwan Peoples and Jakobi Kyree Taylor, both 24, have been arrested and charged with first-degree murder and other gun-related offenses. Police said a third suspect, 26-year-old Lavelle Cobb Newtown, is still wanted for murder.
The shooting happened on the afternoon of Feb. 9, 2024, on Augustine Circle. Arriving officers found 25-year-old Arthur Lee Harris Jr. lying in the middle of the street with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.
Peoples and Taylor are currently held without bond at the Portsmouth City Jail.
