PORTSMOUTH, Va. — Shannon Glover has announced victory against his two challengers in Portsmouth's 2024 mayoral race.
Glover ran against Vice Mayor Lisa Lucas-Burke, as well as political newcomer Harold Carothers III.
As of Wednesday afternoon, Glover had secured 50% of the vote compared to 40% for Lucas-Burke and 9% for Carothers.
Glover was first elected in 2020. During his first term, the city has seen major turnover in key leadership positions, including multiple city managers. At times, tensions have boiled over among council members.
