The fire was quickly brought under control, but a child and two adults now need a place to stay.

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — A family is without a home after a house fire broke out in Portsmouth on Saturday afternoon.

Portsmouth Fire and Rescue was called to the residence near the intersection of Columbia Street and Amelia Avenue around 1:40 p.m. They arrived to find heavy fire coming from the attic vents of a single-story home.

Firefighters quickly knocked the fire down and it was brought under control within minutes.

However, two adults and one child were displaced by the fire. The Red Cross is helping them find lodging arrangements.
