PORTSMOUTH, Va. — A multi-vehicle accident near downtown Portsmouth caused major delays on Wednesday.
Portsmouth police say the crash happened near the intersection of Lincoln and Effingham Street just before 12:30 p.m. They continued by saying that the Southbound lanes were closed past Southside and the westbound lanes were closed past Chestnut Street.
Authorities asked for drivers to avoid the area while they worked to clear the scene. As of 4:37 p.m., all lanes have reopened.
Portsmouth police did not release any other details about the incident.
