Arrest made in Portsmouth stabbings that left two hurt, one dead

Police said two women are expected to recover, but a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — An arrest has been made after three people were stabbed over the weekend in Portsmouth. One of the stabbing victims died.

Portsmouth Police Department spokeswoman Elexcia Washington said police responded to a call for a domestic assault at about 1:10 p.m. in the 200 block of Webster Avenue on Saturday. Officers arrived to find two women and one man all suffering from stab wounds.

Police said the women were taken to the hospital and are expected to make full recoveries. The man, 64-year-old Charles Green, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Washington said the stabbing suspect, 44-year-old Shon Oliver, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and two counts of aggravated malicious wounding.

The stabbing remains under investigation.
