PORTSMOUTH, Va. — A man has been charged with second-degree murder on Thursday, the Portsmouth Commonwealth's Attorney's Office said.
Deterryo Stephon Harris was found guilty by a jury of second-degree murder, shooting/stabbing in the commission of a felony, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, damage to property less than $1,000 and reckless firing of a firearm after he fatally shot 20-year-old Ja'Son Antonio Randolph.
According to officials, on April 11, Harris and another person were in the parking lot of a shopping center located at the intersection of Turnpike Road and Frederick Boulevard. Harris saw Randolph walking out of the Tobacco and Vape store, went to the car he was riding in, got a gun and shot Randolph several times. Randolph was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said Harris fled to a nearby apartment before he was taken into custody.
Harris is scheduled for sentencing on Jan. 30, 2025.
