PORTSMOUTH -- The search is on for a couple who carjacked a man in Portsmouth.
Authorities say the victim agreed to give them a ride after meeting them at Cock Island Bar and Grill on Airline Blvd.
Around 1 a.m., just moments after they left, the man, who was in the back seat, pulled a gun and demanded his car.
He gave them the keys to his 2001 black GMC Jimmy two-door and they drove off, police add. The woman was driving.
The bartender who was working at the time of the crime says she remembers the woman. She stood out because most of the customers are regulars.
"I kind of felt like something was up. It was late, and I didn't feel good about the situation, but she was very nice," said Kristin Jarman.
The bartender says the woman sat next to the victim and asked him for a ride when it was time to close. The victim eventually agreed, and that's when the couple pulled out a gun and carjacked him.
The victim, who was left in the 4100 block of King Street, ran for help and after knocking on several doors, he found a security guard at the Holiday House on County Street, who called police.
Thankfully the driver wasn't hurt, but Jarman wants justice for her customer and friend.
"It's really awful. Somebody is nice enough to give you a ride, and you take them for everything they have," said Jarman.
There was no description of the couple available.
