PORTSMOUTH, Va. — A garage fire forced one person out of their home Saturday night, according to Portsmouth Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services.
The blaze was reported at a home on Hatton Point Road near Riveredge Drive just after 8 p.m.
Using an "aggressive fire attack," officials said crews were able to stop the fire from spreading throughout the residence.
Fire officials said the sole resident was able to escape the blaze without getting hurt.
The resident is staying with family due to the fire and smoke damage in the house, officials said.
An investigation is underway to determine what sparked the fire.
