PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The Elizabeth River Ferry resumed service after a boat made contact with the seawall in Portsmouth Friday morning.
Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) said the collision happened around 10:30 a.m. when the captain of Elizabeth River Ferry V approached the High Street Dock in Portsmouth a little too quickly.
There was one person on board, but no one was hurt, according to HRT.
The U.S. Coast Guard was notified, and the ferry was taken out of service so the damage could be assessed.
The ferry's service has resumed using the Elizabeth River Ferry IV, as of 8:30 p.m. HRT said shuttle service has been discontinued.
