MIDWAY, Ga. — Police investigating a deadly crash in Georgia that killed a Portsmouth couple and their three children have identified the driver responsible for the accident.
Georgia State Patrol says 77-year-old Milton Lee Long of Cooper City, Florida, was driving the wrong way on Interstate 95 early Sunday morning in Liberty County, Georgia.
Long's SUV crashed head-on into another SUV being driven by 41-year-old Sara Robinson of Portsmouth, killing everyone inside both vehicles.
In addition to Long and Robinson, Robinson's husband Nathan and their three children, Stephen, Rebecca, and Alexander all died. There was no one else inside Long's SUV.
The circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation, but police say that everyone was wearing their seatbelts, and Long was not believed to have been impaired at the time of the crash.
