NORFOLK, Va. — 13News Now is excited to let you know that Nicole Livas will be returning to Hampton Roads in a few short weeks as co-anchor of 13News Now at 11 p.m. and 13News Now at 5:30 p.m. In addition to anchoring, Nicole will bring her passion to special projects, reporting on issues that impact our communities with relevant and engaging stories.

Nicole currently is a news anchor/producer/editor for Voice of America in Washington, D.C. She was evening anchor at WAVY until 2016. She also worked at TV stations in Rhode Island and Ohio; however, her first break in local television news came at 13News Now.

Nicole said, “13News Now gave me my first non-internship paid job in television news, so this is a full-circle homecoming. I’m excited to come home to Hampton Roads and be close to my family and friends again.”

During her career, Nicole has covered the September 11th terrorist attacks and the Virginia Tech shootings. She was one of the first reporters on the scene following the JFK, Jr. plane crash near Martha’s Vineyard. She also covered the Egypt Air crash off the coast of Nantucket. Nicole was voted best female newscaster by Coastal Virginia Magazine’s readers several times. She’s an Emmy-nominated journalist who has been recognized by the Virginia Association of Broadcasters and The Hampton Roads Black Media Professionals.

“We’re very excited to welcome Nicole to the 13News Now family as she helps us tell the stories of now”, said Doug Wieder, Executive News Director at 13News Now. “She’s a familiar face in Hampton Roads, and I believe viewers will love seeing her back on the air. Nicole has a wonderful energy, a warmth, and a journalistic credibility that complement our talented team perfectly.”

Kari Jacobs, President and General Manager of 13News Now added, “It is important to us to have anchors who know Hampton Roads and understand what matters to our viewers. Nicole grew up in Virginia Beach and lived in Norfolk and Chesapeake. She has family in the city of Hampton and in North Carolina. Nicole is very aware of what stories truly make a difference in the lives of our audience.”

“13News Now has offered me a great opportunity to get back into TV news full-time and still have a good home-life balance, which is very important to me”, said Nicole. “I know this community well, and I want to share the stories of now, stories which don’t just scratch the surface of what’s happening. There are so many options for news these days. I want to make it worth your time to tune in to 13News Now on air, online, through our app, and through our social media platforms.”

Nicole will return to the airwaves on April 8. Join us in welcoming her!
